I've been concentrating on knitting my fair isle sweater. I'm hoping to finish for Thanksgiving, though I probably won't wear it that day. I don't want to ruin it the first day I wear it, you know? I'm almost at the second decrease in the yoke of the sweater (it's done ala Elizabeth Zimmerman - knit 4 or so inches of the yoke and then k2tog, k1 around, knit a couple more inches and then do a second decrease round, work the last inch or two & then decrease, work back neck shaping, etc.) It's coming out pretty cool, I think.

I got a larger than usual commission check this month, so I BOUGHT YARN! After much hemming & hawing, I bought the wool of the andes sampler from knitpicks. My current love is fair isle, so I can use this for fair isle socks, or buy a few more balls of a solid, and do a norwegian style sweater, or I can do stripes, or I can do big blocks of color, or an all over fair isle design, or I can use it for hats & mittens, or I'm in yarn overload...

harry potter

guess who scored 4, count them FOUR, free tickets to see Harry Potter Sat am at 8:30?

well, no, not me, but my mom did! Yeah! :) I'm so all over those free tickets. I wish I knew earlier, I would have knit a scarf & a hat &/or socks. It's kind of too late now for Sat. It's been on my wish list to make stuff, just haven't gotten around to it, you know?

You should have grown up during the eighties

A very different decade for very different people. You like to challenge the norms, and try to be original at all costs. Plus the music was definitely cool. Go Retro Night.

Take this quiz at QuizGalaxy.com

I don't generally do quizzes, but I was bored & saw this one, so here I am. The funny thing is, I was born in 76, I DID grow up in the 80's! I always said I was more of a 60's gal, I guess I was proved wrong haha

cable guy

is here, so I'm hiding from him & actually getting on the computer in the morning. He got here 45 minutes ago, and we still aren't hooked up yet. I don't understand what's taking so long - we already have the hookups, we are just adding a room. It's an apartment building so these hookups have been in places for ions. But, at least he got here early and not later.

Knitting news: I need to scan/take photos! I keep mentioning projects & just never add the photos.

I cast on for another pair of socks last night, the mosaic socks from the 6sox kal. I knitted a pair of mosaic socks already, but for whatever reason, I changed the mosaic pattern to one from the book "Slip Stitch Knitting".

orange socks

are done, and socks for my socknitter swap partner are almost done, I'm past the heel turn & have about 1" of each leg done.

Haven't touched the fair isle sweater at all the last couple of days, too tired.

Most of the orange socks were knitted in the car on the way down to CT for some Christmas shopping & to buy ourselves a new monitor.

I worked on the scrap red socks a bit today, a few minutes when I got to work early & a few minutes on my break.

So I'm down to just 3 WIPs right now, I feel great but a little weird.

Sat I picked up two knitting magazines, InKnitters and I forgot the other one. I liked InKnitters because it had a few articles I was interested in, not to mention patterns. I think a sweater and a skirt, I don't remember off hand. The other magazine had socks (nothing terribly original) & a few other things I was interested in, like mosaic knitting! Yeah!

well, my plain sweater that I was planning on doing just a bit of fair isle on, is now turning into an all over fair isle sweater in the round. I'm NOT doing steeks though, thank you very much. I'm not brave enough for that. One of these days I'll take the class over at needlecraftuniversity, last I checked there was a class on steeks available. I think their prices are awfully high, but what are my other options?

No time to write.... just a quick post...
