This is the basket of vintage yarn I bought last year for $5 at a senior center flea market. I took these pictures last year but never d/l the pics because our digital camer sucks. What can you expect, we paid all of $30 for it.

This was a plant hanger I made last summer, too. It's made out of a very heavy duty nylon cord that I bought at a yard sale in Rutland.

WIP Wednesday!

Actually, I don't really have many WIPs.

The pillowghan from hell that I haven't touched in at least a month.

that's it! LOL I've been making squares for the rainbow swap starting in May, and little projects like my shawl I finished in 2 days, and a couple of bags to put bathroom stuff in (we have open shelves,so...). That's it! I need new WIPs!

(technically, there's the monkey I'm going to start making, and the tops I want to make, and the ripple afghans I still want to make, and several scrap afghans that I need to make a few more squares for and put away. And don't forget, make something with all those squares I got from granny!)

I had the best Easter ever! Besides getting belated birthday presents from my in-laws, my grandmother gifted me with 3 vintage magazines, a mixed media needlecraft book, 2 quick and easy spiral notebook (patterns every 6 weeks type of club) and get this: 2 small totes & a bag full of granny squares in assorted colors she's made. I get to finish an afghan my grandmother started crocheting! Am I the only one that thinks this is neat? She was also very impressed with the socks I'm knitting (I'd never use such tiny toothpicks!), the socks on my feet, and the shawl I was wearing made out of vintage wool from the Sutton Senior's flea market last year ($5 for a full basket full of wool. I still have more wool leftover!)

However, we came home last night to Zorro (our beloved furrbaby)'s throw up everywhere - including on one of my more recently finished afghans :(.

I forgot to mention that the spring swap squares are all done & I'm slowly mailing them. I also signed up for a bookmark & another 12" square swap (2 squares to your partner every month I sign up, so it's easy peasy)

last night

I didin't get much crocheting done. I was too tired, so I knitted a bit on my spiralbusters socks.

Happy Easter! I'm wearing hand knit socks & a hand crocheted shawl made out of vintage wool.

I am so excited! I've been wanting to make the cocoon sweater forever, and I finally found the pattern! I knew it had to be around somewhere!

I still can't seem to get inspired to crochet anything other than squares. I have a commitment issue right now, I think, when it comes to crocheting! LOL I did promise no new major projects for the month of March, so I guess I'm sticking with it for once in my life. I've been making squares for the rainbow squares swap at
and making spring squares for the swap at
and making 12" for Heart Made Blessings:

i also joined the crochetlist at yahoogroups again:

I haven't been terribly inspired to crochet much lately, other than squares. My love hate relationship with squares continues, LOL! I joined another sq swap - anything goes 10" sq bordered in black. So, I guess I'm making more squares!

Added some new granny sq links on the sidebar, check them out.

crochet projects...

What are they? Crochet projects, that is. I have lots of things I want to make - must update my list of wants... but no inspiration. I have to finish the pillowghan & put together the blue squares, and work on squares for swaps.... but I'm not inspired to do any of it. I'm on a knitting kick!

blues swap

Well, even though I've been saying all week that Saturday I have to finish the pillowghan, I didn't work on it at all yesterday. I finished up the 2 12" sqs for the swap (ready to be mailed tomorrow) & made some blue squares to add to the blue squares I got from the swap. I had 2 or 3 half skeins of yarn lying on my side of the bed that I wanted to use up, and really didn't feel inspired to do anything else. I had some pink ready to go to start making the spring squares for the spring swap, but made the blue squares anyways. I really did need to make some - at last count I only had 51 squares from the blue swap - but, still.

So, today I want to at least start the spring squares. Last time I checked, only 6 or 8 people signed up for it, so that's not a lot of squares. But, combined with the flower squares I have to make, and the red, white & blue squares (which isn't until July/August, but still, I can think ahead can't I??).... I'm in square heaven.

This morning I've been browsing cat quilt patterns online. My aunt quilts & does incredible work & has some cats, and of course we have Zorro. So I was inspired to look. Damn, but now I really, really want to quilt!

12" sq completed

12" sq completed last night in what I hope is sage green & off white. My yarn had no labels so I was guessing at the colors!

squares, squares, squares!

finishedthe scrap white afghan at long last! Folded up & is sitting on my couch.

Haven't touchedthe damned pillowghan, I've been sick as a dog all week. Stomach virus thing. Ick.

I'll be mailing out those bookmarks to my bookmark partner tomorrow.

I want to start a new project - crocheted monkey! But, will hold off for a bit, I think. I need to make a TON of squares - 2 - 12" sage green & off white sqs for a swap, and an undetermined (as yet) number of spring sqs, an undetermined amount of flower sqs, and an undetermined # of red, white, and blue sqs, all of them 8" sqs. And I'm thinking of joining another large sq swap, maybe a green & white one or a stash buster swap.

And I still havethe blue sqs to put together.

They don't call me granny square woman for nothing!! What a love/hate relationship I have with them....

My dear friend J at work who crochets, made me a potholder this week (I made her 2 last week) & wants to make me crocheted socks! My other passion in life is socks! I can't wait to see what she makes for me.

a few misc projects...

I made a few bookmarks for a swap. I'm on the border of the scrap white afghan - making it smaller than originally planned, but I just want it done! The pillowghan is about halfway done - don't want to mention too much about it on the 'net in case the person who it's intended for is reading this.
