I finally did some more crocheting today - I worked on my scrap yarn afghans - all of them, actually! (see link at right, which needs to be updated). My hands are killing me, between the knitting & crocheting I did. I'm no longer used to having my mornings free to craft, so... my hands & arms kill me when I do.

Haven't done any crocheting all week, but I did manage to pick up some yarn this weekend at a yard sale for $1, enough for an afghan or so in shades of red - I'm thinking it may end up a sport weight sweater for me, but we'll see.

I also picked up a few patterns this weekend, nothing fantastic but still interesting enough.

DH & I are going to be away this weekend, so no posts from me until Monday!

I did, however, do a small update on my website tonight - added a half granny square pattern, some granny squares, and hexagon granny square patterns. I'll be adding more patterns tonight until DH gets home from work - anytime soon now. All patterns are vintage.

Wanna see?

Well, no crocheting news to report. How boring am I?? However, from this past Sunday's auction that DH went to, I got some new vintage patterns that I'll be *hopefully* typing up & posting online soon, including a cutesy crocheted children's cape.

My socks:

Can you tell, I used 3 different sock yarns? I think the overall affect is pretty neat - of course, the camera doesn't do the colors justice.

I really should have moved the KFC container before taking the pictures, eh??

Happy Patriot's Day

and congrats to the winners of the 2004 Boston Marathon! Since Jon had to go into work today, we didn't go to the marathon (my parents did) but Jon & I watched it all on TV.

I know this is knit related, but it's also kitty related:

Zorro's helping me to try on my Broadripple Socks I'm knitting in the Elann Sock it to Me Espirt collection. Pattern from knitty.com.

Crochet related news? Well, not much. I still haven't started that poncho, and haven't worked on any squares. Sigh. I'm a bad, bad little crocheter, aren't I? I still haven't taken a picture of my finished crocheted socks. In fact, let me go do that now...

Friday, April 16, 2004

Well! I'm on a roll this afternoon. I finished 3 squares today for the 63 squares crochet along, so that's a total of 4 squares finished. Today I did the sc square, the hdc square, and the tr square, which came out a little big, but not enough that i felt I needed to fuss with it.

Off to start my poncho!

I want to change my template, but damn there are next to no craft templates out there!!! I could make my own, but honestly,I don't want to install PSP & I don't have the time. I have today off, DH left early, but I want to sit & knit & crochet today, & catch up on email, and honestly, veg. It's been an exhausting week, and I need a breather before I go back to work all weekend. I did find some website graphics that I love, and I suppose I could modify the template, but eeek!! I really, honestly, and truely don't think my html/coding skills are up for that. So, for now... I guess I just use this. Blah.

I finished my socks last night! A tad loose, enough that you really notice it, but not bad overall, esp. considering I made these babies mostly when tired, or distracted (as in during Easter family get together).

Recent FO's:

Freeform crocheted hat :) modeled by me, of course.

Toliet tissue cover, made for my parents' at Christmas & my own design.

Floral scrap quilt, from the book "Crochet Scrap Yarn Afghans" by House of White Birches. Designs by Sharon Volkman.

Scrap yarn afghan in shades of blue, a basic sc, hdc in one st, skip next st, rep across.

My sock yarn order from elann.com that just arrived yesterday!

Considering I'm the granny square woman, I ain't had much time for crocheting grannies! I didn't finish my socks last night, either, but did finish the ribbing, ran out of yarn, and started the heels - almost done! I'm doing the heels in a 3rd (leftover) color, so these socks are truely leftover socks, and they look fabulous if I do say so myself, and I do!!

Okay, instead of adding more links to more crochet-related goodness, I decided to play with a new toy for my blogger:

w.bloggar - the link's at the bottom of the page It's great. It's awesome, it's just like the livejournal client that I used to use, but so much better!!!

Want to see a photo of my socks? A scan, actually....

As you can see, these babies are almost done - almost to the ribbing, if I decide to do ribbing, which I haven't yet decided. They are pictured with the tops of the socks at the top, and the toes at the bottom. Yes, they are toe-up, as are all my socks. If I did the coding right, then you can click on the photo for the larger photo, which is still shrunk from the original but bigger than what's posted here. Since I'm on dial up, I try to keep photos small.

I'm also using 2 different colors of two different sock yarns from elann.com - the colors themselves are pretty close, except for the black, and I think they blend well enough, and the look is unique.

I'm also doing an afterthought heel, mainly because I wasn't sure how much of either skein I was going to have left for the heel, and, I wanted to make sure it would be easy for me to re-do the heel if it didn't fit, or wore out, or whatever. I ended up deciding that the heel will be made with a 3rd color of leftover elann.com sock yarn, this time with purples & blues in it. It'll be a wild, leftover sock, and it's perfectly my style.

Easter, was, well Easter. I did manage to get a few inches crocheted on these socks, though, so who am I too complain? Didn't get a chance to work on them at all today, but hopefully tonight I can finish them. I'm planning on making this pair over again, with a few changes, in a plain-ish opal yarn I have, and writing up the patterns. At that point, I'll be looking for a pattern checker!

Sunday, April 11, 2004

Last night I ended up just looking at my new books, too tired to really do any crafts :(. I hate not crocheting or knitting. Tonight will probably be much the same, too. I'm not a happy camper.

Happy Easter!

I did crochet a little on my socks this am, between eating cinammon rolls for breakfast & making pie for Eastser dessert, which I won't be around to eat. Grr... I'm not too happy about that one.

New today: Commenting! Yeah! Please leave me a comment :)

What a day - grr. But, I will talk about that later. Happy Easter to anyone who celebrates it.

Last night I began crocheting a pair of socks, my own pattern. I'm very pleased with how they are coming out, and I'm thinking of actually submitting the pattern to a magazine somewhere. It's about time I start trying to sell my original patterns. I'll post a photo of my work in progress, but for tonight, we're off to watch some movies we rented from the library. And, oogle over my new crochet books I bought today at a used bookstore, and oogle over my latest crochet books from interlibrary loan. And work on those socks, and probably start my poncho tonight - if, that is, I decide to dig my yarn out from my closet that i want to use. Yes, I decided on what to use - and what pattern! At long last!

Added some new links tonight!

Ah, today is another day! I feel so much better today, though it was a crazy day.

I decided to definitely make the 12" CAL out of red & black, and give it to my parents for Christmas, or perhaps early. Now, to decide exactly how I want to use the red & black... LOL.

I started up the crocheted socks webring again today! The code is nothing fancy at all... but... here it is...

Now, anyone out there into making crocheted socks, please join!!! Pretty please? I don't want to be the only one in the ring!

Last night I was just so tired. I really wanted to crochet, and go online, but I didn't even d/l my mail - let alone read it.

I did decide to make my 63 squares afghan out of scrap yarn - I always have scrap yarn! I'm the scrap yarn queen - that should have been the name of my blog, LOL. I HAD decided to do my other CAL (see link at right) in shades of green - I just can't think of the particular shade, sages maybe? that I have a ton of, and make it into a pillowghan. I don't need another regular afghan! But, then I thought maybe I should make it black & red, and give it as a pillowghan to my parents for Christmas for their 1964 Ford Falcon convertible. I made them a red & black pillowghan years ago - before I got married, I think even before I met Jon, and it started to fall apart where I sewed the squares together. It looked a mess, and they asked that I fixed it - and then, the pillowghan just sort of disappeared. It was weird- they thought I took it to fix it, and I thought they took it out of their car & forgot to give it to me. Needless to say, it's still missing, and I owe them a red/black pillowghan for their car. I really should make one for them before their falcon show in the summer... and i could easily finish it by then, but I also should save it for Christmas.

Hmm, can you tell I'm not good with decisions?

Off-topic for a bit, I've been exhausted all week. My new schedule is just killing me. I don't know why I'm so tired. I know it's the change in hours, setting the clocks back & all that, and working an hour later at night every day, and trying to run 3 programs a day instead of 2, but I'm just tired & exhausted all of the time, and it's really getting me down.

Wednesday, April 07, 2004

Well, I managed to find my book for the 63 squares crochet a long - so, I'm excited about that! I also WROTE all the things I need to do or want to do for my main website but, have yet to do any of it!

DH will be home awfully soon - in 5 or 10 minutes - so, I'm off to hop in the shower, and I think I may try square one of the 63 squares tonight. I'm exhausted so I'm not expecting to get too far! Then again, I haven't figured out colors yet, so maybe I shouldn't start tonight. Hmmm. Back to the thinking board, I guess!

Added some links & stuff tonight! Please admire the wonderful Zorro picture :). Oh, and I forgot to add my email address... that's adultramblings at therapids dot net if you want to drop me a line! Please do!

Tuesday, April 06, 2004

No crochet news tonight, I'm afraid. I wanted to start my 63 squares crochet along last night, and I can't find my book! So, I still need to search for it some more I'm afraid, before I can begin.

I'm sitting here at my desk, waiting for DH to come home from work, with a very happy, purring kitty on my lap. I have to get offline, but I'm still trying to d/l some mail. I think I'll call it a night, but I wanted to print off some patterns off the 'net to start playing with.

I may have to work overtime this weekend- happy about the extra hours & $ of course, but really wanted the time to play this weekend!! :( I can't have it all, I guess.

The first crochet a long I joined!

I'm planning on using yarn from my stash, and donate the finish afghan to charity, perhaps for a raffle.

Welcome to the new crochet blog :). Yup, I started a new one. Well, the old one was a little top heavy, and with so few, infrequent posts, I decided to start over again, afresh, and just leave the old one to the land of archives.

So, what am I crocheting? Actually, I'm more knitting these days than crocheting. I am working on a ton of scrap yarn afghans, and work on them all about once or so a week, on one of my days off. During the week, when I get home from work, I'm mostly knitting.
I even started a knitting blog:

http://knitsocks.blogspot.com

Please check it out!

So, in the meantime, I've been checking out crochet online & I'm really excited to see a small community of crochet bloggers forming. I don't know if I just couldn't find them before, or if they really are new, but it's SO incredibly wonderful to see other crochet bloggers on there. And there are actually some active crochet a longs! Which is amazing for me to see as I've been trying really hard to get crochet alongs started, without any luck at all!! So, of course... I promptly joined some 'longs. Will post all the links & details later, and add some links to some crochet blogs... but, I've spent 4 hours online playing, and not getting any crafting done! Or cleaning... or wait, I still haven't eaten anything at all... all day... perhaps, I should eat? LOL!
